CHAPTER IX.
SUPERVISORS AND SPECIAL DEPARTMENTS.


Rule 1. In the same manner as principals are chosen there shall be elected supervisors for the special departments of manual training, household arts, drawing, writing, music, health, physical training, and such other special departments as the Board may organize. This rule does not apply to teachers in these departments.

Rule 2. Supervisors shall have control of their departments as principals have control of their schools. They shall be directly responsible to the Superintendent for the courses of study, the time schedules, the methods of instruction and the progress of pupils in the various special branches. They shall instruct their assistants, conduct teachers meetings and in general see that all work of their respective departments is properly organized, deputized and supervised.

Rule 3. Special branches shall be taught in the grades and in the High School as directed by the Board and the Superintendent. Instruction in special branches shall be introduced, extended or restricted upon recommendation of the Committee on Special Departments and the Superintendent. subject to approval of the full Board.

Rule 4. All principals and teachers shall cooperate with the supervisors and their assistants, shall follow their suggestions and shall help to advance work and increase the efficiency of the various special departments in any and every way indicated by the Board and the Superintendent.

Rule 5. The supervisors shall annually in December file with the Superintendent written reports of their respective departments.
