The Metcalf News
As we bring to a close three wonderful years, we have something we can always be proud of, Our Metcalf News. We feel proud of this newspaper, because, under the direction of Mr. Leary and the capable leadership of our co-editors, Nance Grandchamp and Caroline 0'Neill, the paper won a second place award in the University Scholastic Press Association contest.
One important feature for the staff members was the convention in Springfield. Our editors and editorial board attended and experienced the thrill of meeting the school newspaper people from all parts of Western Massachusetts. Another bright light was the selection of editorials written by Caroline and Nance to represent Holyoke in the National Tuberculosis Association writing Contest.
Then there was the Easter Edition which we turned over to the eighth grades. You can be sure we all felt proud to see that they did so well, because this meant we were leaving the paper in capable hands.
Now as we look back upon those memorable incidents we cannot help but feel very proud of our school paper, "The Metcalf News."
