Baton Twirling at Metcalf School
On February 5, 1951, the majorettes put on a practice performance in the auditorium.
Then on February 8, they staged the big performance at the Holyoke High School gym on parents' night. Joan Prych led the first group of majorettes in a marching exercise. Then Nance Grandchamp took over for the twirling routine.
Dorothy Sugrue and Dorothy Ellert led the second group in a similar routine. Both groups put on a very impressive performance.
On May 27, 1951, the first and second majorette groups entered the twirling contest held annually at Mountain Park, and here again our school was proudly represented.
