CHAPTER XIV.
ATTENDANCE OFFICERS.


Rule 1. Attendance officers shall be chosen by majority vote of the full Board under the Civil Service rules, and in compliance with the statutes.

Rule 2. Under the direction of the Superintendent they shall be the special officers of the Board to execute the laws of the state relating to truancy, irregular attendance, neglected children, and children employed in mercantile and manufacturing establishments. They shall know and enforce all laws relating to their duties. They shall also perform such other duties as the Board may require.

Rule 3. The officers shall visit the several schools as frequently as possible, following a regular schedule. They shall upon request of principals and teachers investigate all cases referred to them, and shall make prompt reports on the same.

Rule 4. The officers shall at the request of the Superintendent visit and inspect all shops, stores, factories, and mercantile establishments in the city, and see that children working therein are employed in compliance with the laws.

Rule 5. They shall annually, in October, make or supervise the making of a census of all persons of school age in the city. They shall record the same and make returns, properly arranged, to the Secretary of the School Board.

Rule 6. The officers shall make monthly reports of their work to the Board, using such blanks, cards, and forms as the Board may require.

Rule 7. They shall have regular daily office hours outside of school hours; additionally the office shall be open from 7:00 to 8:00 on Monday and Wednesday evenings, except during vacations.
