1600 Years of Masonry

A unique event occurred on the evening of June 1, 1940, which was designated "Sixteen Hundred Years of Masonry". The Lodge opened with an attendance of three hundred and twenty-five members and then repaired to the auditorium where a fine dinner was served with the added pleasure of orchestral music. Following the dinner the Lodge reconvened and the D. D. G. Master Ronald Astley stated the reason for the evening's designation was the fact that the total ages of the twenty Brothers participating in the work equaled 1603 years, an average age of over eighty years. One member of the group was ninety three years of age, seven were over eighty and nine over seventy. The occasion was graced by the presence of Most Wor. Herbert W. Dean, Past Grand Master; Rt. Wor. Roy Perry Miles, Senior Grand Warden and other distinguished Masons.
