Orchestra

Our school provides students with a number of opportunities to develop their musical talents. One of these is our orchestra which gives the student a chance to play in assemblies and band concerts and gives him valuable musical experience which will help him in future years.

An instrument rental plan and free instruction at the start makes it possible for any boy or girl to try one or more musical instruments. The days when one had to spend a small fortune before he or she could even begin to take lessons are gone.

Many of our Metcalf graduates are now playing with professional orchestras and undoubtedly they got their start playing with the School Orchestra.

Members of the School Orchestra during 1950-1951 were: James Kane, Frank Moore, Henry Seidel, Eric Heinicke, Howard Greenberg, Stanley Malek, Robert McDonnell Richard Gibbs, Michael Blum, Robert Keene, John Kane, Charles Lipshitz, Robert Sampson, Paul Donnelly, Henry Padden Johnathan Klarfield, Sheldon Brunell, Ruth Spicer, Carol Deitrich, Ann Marie Drodz, Robert Carey, George Kennedy, James Frey, Robert Wiggins, Neil Sheehan, and Richard Garvin.
